So as I am relatively “challenge” free this and next month (does this make me Challenge, Challenged” I wonder? 🤨), I thought I’d take this rest bite to fulfill a promise I made a few weeks back and get the rest of my “Mantic Pathfinders” finished. Now for those of you not in the know I’m not overly enamoured with these plastic multipart troopers, but as there are only ten of them in my collection (and it’s likely to remain at ten!), and five of those were finished back in January (god this year is flying by!), I thought it about time to apply the last remaining colours to this “bunch of five” too.
Now I mentioned in their last post that I’d added a “camo” cape to the standing sniper figure, this was basically so he would match the kneeling sniper as I’d used the separate head that had a hood and cape attached on that figure, simple stuff just a rectangle of greenstuff stuck on his back a few “waves” added to it (but not many as the “official” one on the other figure didn’t have many either), and I added a couple of “sausages” around the neckline to simulate the hood as if thrown back. Now I’m not going to go through all the “ins and outs” of the painting again, if you want to know the process you can read it here….
Suffice to say that the capes were painted in the same “camo” effect as the trousers, with the inner sides just painted in khaki that was then highlighted with more of the same lightened with a little coffee.
So a rather short post this week, so I thought I’d take a leaf out of Dave (The Imperfect Modelers’) book, and leave you with a joke I was sent the other day, that features a man who stands for everything that is great about Britain! and Jacob Rees-Mogg 😠, well it made me laugh….
Next time it’ll be my “Advent Challenge” figures for March, so till then stay safe, and cheers Roger.
Great finish to the unit Roger, and at least they are now done and dusted and no longer blocking your mojo, and hopefully you can get back to enjoying projects, maybe a big robot sat on your desk ! LOL
Thanks Dave, I am glad to see the back of them from my desk, strangely there is a “big robot” looming at me as I speak, it’s as if you were psychic or something 😉.
He’ll probably still have to wait a couple more weeks though before he gets a little attention.
Cheers Roger.
Another tour-de-force from the camo-painting guru. Plus some green-stuff conversion work to boot!!! Marvellous stuff, especially as I know you’re not enamoured with the soft-looking sculpts. Super-pleased you’ve got them finished though, as I’m sure they’ll look ace on your Deadzone tabletop.
Thanks Simon, though I’d hardly call them a tour-de-force (or myself a guru tbh), I do hope to get a few more Dead Zone figures painted this year (I need more Forge fathers, as opposition to these guys).but it’ll probably be later in the year, Mo’vember perhaps🤔.
Cheers Roger.
Oh… That sounds like a solid plan, Roger. I’ve still got plenty of Planet of the Apes to paint, so a Mo’vember Challenge would be good. How about a Hott’ember Challenge as a warm-up..? LOL!!!
No offence mate, but….sod off! 😁
Look on the bright side, they’re done and you’ll never have to paint them again LOL! Excellent work on the camo and the skin tones, Roger, they look great. Love the Jacob Grease-Smug joke too!
Thanks Matt that’s true at least. Glad you like the joke, and even better you seem to dislike him as much as me! 😁 (Peter Cushing on the other hand is one of my heroes!).
Cheers Roger.
Nice work. Ready to game with them. At first glance I thought they were GW Catachans. All camo and snipers.
Thanks Harry, I think even the Catachan females weren’t this butch! 😁
Cheers Roger.
Nicely done, Roger! 🙂 I quite like this unit!
Thanks John, I still don’t 😉.
Cheers Roger.
Epic cape Roger, to think they came from sausages…well done sir!
Thanks Mark, was odd you commenting on part one of this lot, just as I was going outside to photograph this lot.😀
Well the cape came from a sausage anyway, the figure came from Mantic 😁.
Cheers Roger.
Well Roger I started this morning on January 28th posts so I just caught up!
At least they’re done and they look great in my opinion
Thanks Luke, and that’s why I hold your opinion in such low esteem then 😁.
Cheers Roger.
Great work Roger.
Thanks Dave, I hope I can do better than this! 😁
Cheers Roger.
Personally I don’t like these at all Roger but I’m only saying that to agree with you! 😉
Great cammo mate, they look great to me!
Thanks Alex, at least now they’re done, frees up a little space on the old Painting table.
Cheers Roger
Thanks Dave, finally someone gets it! (Lol)
Cheers Roger.
The cam’s great mate! i’m trying to do some on a current project and I find it can work well one day but on the next day it turns into a right bastard, maybe I should just do them all on the day that it’s going well !!
Thanks pat, that is so true, I have in fact gone back to my old faithful camera at the moment, as I can’t seem to do what it did with these again! 🙄
Cheers Roger.
🤓👍🏻
