Hello your probably thinking what’s this a posting on a Tuesday, that’s a bit different?
Well yes it is, but the thing is both myself and fellow “blogger” and lunatic Jez over at “Carrion Crows Buffet” are about to embark on yet another round of the madness that is “He-month”, and as usual I thought I’d mark the beginning of the month with a bit of a “statement of intent” (In other words I’d say what figures I’m hoping to get finished by the end of the month). So this month I hope to complete my versions of three characters from the second wave of “He-man” toys that “mattel” released in 1983, just in time for them to be included in the then new cartoon series, namely “Trap-jaw”, ”Tri-klops” and “Ram-man”. Interestingly both Trap-Jaw and Tri-klops had very different back stories to begin with than the “bumbling” henchmen they turned out to be portrayed as in the series. Trap-jaw was originally conceived to be an escaped criminal from another dimension, and Tri-klops was an incredibly strong master swordsman and tactician summoned by Skeletor to defeat He-man, oh how the mighty have fallen eh! Ram-man however just appears to be a chance to use up some left over springs! But I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for his ridiculous power of leaping head first into things.
Right now, as always I plan on using some “dollies” to form the basis of my figures and to this end I have dug out two more of the “naked beefcakes” I bought from “Bronze age miniatures” last year at the conception of this project (See above), these will form the basis of both Tri-klops and Trap-jaw. The base for Ram-man however with be formed by a “Heroclix” figure (also above), namely “The controller” who first appeared in an old fantastic four story. This is mainly due to the fact that as I painted up one of these figures a while back I was struck by how much his face reminded me of the cartoon version of Ram-man from back in the day (How sad is that eh!!). So when it came time to start this month’s conversions I just had to send off to “Blue Rat games” for another one (sadly as regular readers will know I can’t just get one Heroclix figure when I need one, but end up buying a load more I don’t really need as well!!). He looks a bit bigger than the other two figures at the moment, but I have a plan to address that don’t worry.
Anyway enough rambling from me by the end of the week I hope to have at least some WIP pictures to show you along with some description of how I have “hacked” them apart and hopefully started to put them back together, up to that point.
Please be sure to check out what Jez has been up to and how he is progressing with his versions of Eternia’s finest over at his excellent blog….

So till then. Cheers Roger.
Really looking forward to this Roger. The very best of luck and love the sound of the characters you;re going for – all are bound to be Top Ten material 😉
Thanks Simon, three of my fav’s this time, Ram-man and Trap-jaw should need a fair bit of converting so added Tri-klop’s as he should hopefully be a bit simpler. As for top ten we’ll see, but I hope they can beat the the woman in the flowery hat from last week.
Cheers Roger.
Best of luck Roger, this should be a blast.
Many thanks Michael, the last two were great fun so I’ve high hopes that this one will be too. There’s still room for one more you know……
Cheers Roger.
Sorry Roger, completely missed this one, hence the late comment and the slight puzzlement in regards to your comment on Simon’s blog.
So, TrapJaw, Triklops and Ram-Man, eh? Well, you already know that I’m also doing three and one of them is also TrapJaw…
As for the other two… 😉
No problem Jez, just surprised you haven’t posted up you “statement”, I might have had a minor epiphany as regards you middle figure….is it Man-e-faces? of course that could be completely wrong and probably is.
Cheers Roger.
P.S. you probably already know but the trailer for the new Ghostbusters film is now up on youtube….
Cheers Roger.
You are indeed correct. Two out of three. The last one will surprise you – both who it is and how I made him.
And whilst I was aware, I’ve only just watched it – and I’m suitably impressed. I was cautiously optimistic and it would appear my faith is to be rewarded.
Hooray for me!! Last one though I’m totally in the dark about.
Mellissa McCarthy can do no wrong in my books!
Cheers Roger.
